    Question History project ideas

This semester I am teaching US History I (10th grade)and World History (9th grade). I am looking for independent project ideas for them. Does anyone know of any websites that I can get ideas or have projects that have worked in your classrooms.

Try searching webquests in google. The first site that comes up is great for when you have computers available. This site spans all curriculum and all age levels. So, I am sure that it will have something you are looking for.

When I was in high school, we played a game. The game centered around the middle ages and each person was a country. Your goal was to invade and take over other countries. The teacher assigned us infantry, calvary, navy, archers, etc. Then we would decide who to attack and roll dice to see what happens. There was also a Pope who could help certain countries and they had special abilities. Then at the end of the game, we had to write a paper comparing our countries history with the game. It was very informative and I remember learning a lot.

Then, we created games for tribes in Africa and other time periods. These worked really well for us.

Have you ever been to SCORE History in CA? It is a free resource with standards aligned lessons. More to your point, those with the SCORE logo are problem based lessons that can be done individually or organized by groups whole class etc. Just plug that name into Google.
