View Full Version : Please Beware of Peter- Ugandan Teacher
I used the Pen Pal map and set up a pen pal exchange with [school removed] in Kampala, Uganda. The teacher's name is Peter. In the beginning, it was a lot of fun for me and the students; however, it quickly turned ugly. Peter began soliciting money and tried on numerous ocassions to get my bank account money for various reasons, such as they needed an account number to cash a generous donation from a UK donor for their brass band, he was in the hospital and was about to lose his job if he didn't get money to the doctors who wouldn't release him from the hospital (according to him he couldn't have money wired to Uganda without the sender's bank account number...not true at all). My students received one letter from his students, then it stopped, but his begging and pleading and harrassing continued with me. Please be wary when engaging in these exchanges.
