Hello,

I am hoping that this post will be read by some current Illinois teachers.

I've recently moved to Chicago and started the process of becoming certified in Illinois upon arrival (I am certified in Washington state, endorsed in English Lang Arts for grades 4-12).

As I wait for my provisional certificate here, I am trying to prepare for teaching (e.g., by learning the Illinois standards/benchmarks).

One thing I haven't been able to find is a list of books read at the high school level or any type of (specific) school curricula. At the school where I taught in Washington, we had a list of required and optional readings for students (organized by grade level), and I'd love to find something similar here so that I can ensure that I have read all of the books on the list. Can someone help me with that? Do you have a link to a school's English language arts curriculum or do you have a copy of the document yourself? Can you think of a few books that you have had to teach? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.
