Earlier today, we had one of those "mountaintop" experiences that I live for.
One of our students, a rather quiet girl who seemed disinterested in just about everything, did something that knocked all of us over.
One of our teachers is sponsoring a homeless family. Students who wish to are bringing in food, clothing and, in some cases, money to help them.
This girl brought an envelope to her teacher this AM and asked that she open it right away. The teacher did, and found a 100 dollar bill inside. the girl has saved her allowance and money she made from babysitting, etc etc and was donating $100 of it to this family. $100 to an 11 year old is a fortune. It must have taken this girl eons to raise that kind of money.
We were all floored.
You know, they don't call these years the "wonder years" for nothing.....:)
