Y'all, I haven't been here in awhile, but I still read the posts even though I may not post sometimes. Just know that I am lurking about. Didn't we pick it up over the summer? Wasn't that how a bunch of us met? tee hee

Anyway, how was everyone's Thanksgiving? Mine totally rocked, and it felt really good. Not so long ago my niece actually asked me, "Auntie Coffee Lover, I haven't seen you in such a long time." We snuggled on the couch, ate ice cream, watched Journey to the Center of the Earth with Brenden Frasier, and I spent the night. She was attached to me the entire time. It was awesome, and we forget that.

In the middle of class the other day, the kids were asking for something, and I really enjoy this group, but I finally looked at them and told them what my niece said. Then I asked my kids why she might not have seen me in a long time, and the guessed it--because I am always at school. Apparently, I said no for whatever it was they were asking, and they were cool with that.

My excitement was just too much. All the classes had a great day, and they weren't even evil on the day before a holiday. I graded so much and much more and managed to not bring any work home with me. It has been a long time since that has ever happened, but I was determined.

So, the night before all of this, I am hanging out with my beautiful six year old niece who is blonde with blue eyes and and loves her Auntie Coffee Lover and her brother who just loves me too. Here he is, two years old, wearing glasses with eyes as big as saucers, needs speech therapy so his word choice is limited, but he can communicate with sign language, and my sister gave him a rat tail hair cut on purpose! We kicked her parents out, and it was an evening of everything a person who feels loved could wish for.

The next day, the older sister comes into town with her two sons. One is in the 8th grade, and the other is in the second grade. We haven't seen them in awhile, and you expect the 8th grade one to be running from everyone, but all of us were just hugging and playing, and then, tackling and wrestling because that is what boys do.

Yes! I did it! Thirty seven year old Auntie Coffee Lover body slammed her nephews and tackled and wrestled with the best of them. I got tackled and wrestled all day, and planned a few surprise attacks on them as well. Now I see why boys find it so much fun! We played football, and I totally lost, and I didn't care, but I got those boys down! The niece and nephew from the night before came over, and we had an entire football team. My niece, who is not very rough at all, becomes a different little girl when the nephews are around. She totally pouted, they fell for it, and BAM! they went down. She tackled me and them all night long. It was awesome!

The oldest nephew literally ate half an egg for breakfast because he was saving his appetite for mimi's food. Mimi (my mommy) has always been a good cook, but the last few years hasn't been very good for her for a variety of reasons. Whatever! I don't recall a meal as tasty as the one I had yesterday. The turkey had never been so juicy before, and collards never tasted so good. Those biscuits (sp) were fresh out of the over and right before me. No one spoke for the longest time while we ate. The only noises that were made were pretty much my oldest nephew saying "Oh! My God! This is good." over and over and over again. It really was. My mommy sent home lots of left over with me too!

At the end of the day, I was happy and snuggled up with four kids (three nephews and one niece). When they were playing, I seemed to be snuggled up with one of my sisters. It was just nice.

Then, the pain of the wrestling and tackling set in. Movement was limited, but the kids were there to snuggle with me, and none of the boys farted on me either.

It was awesome, and they are still here for the rest of the weekend. I am beside myself with excitement and love for my family.

So, how was your Thanksgiving? Did you feel the love? I am lucky because I am single, and I just need to show up. Everyone else does the cooking, but those adults leave me with their kids the moment I arrive. Which is easier: preparing for Thanksging or taking a beating by kids? Well, either way, Thanksgiving dinner is easier to make if there are no kids in the kitchen, so it all evens out.

And my mommy baked a special pumpkin pie just for me. !! I am thankful for so much, and I had forgotten that recently, but have siince had a very delightful reminder.

All of this love is actually coming from a person very early in the morning, and she hasn't had any coffee at all! What is the world coming to?

It sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm very happy for you. :)

My family celebrated on Wednesday. It was very nice.

I celebrated the weekend before. (The kids were here. Well, all the ones close enough to make it. I have one in NM who informed me he won't be home for Christmas either, He is saving his vacation time for when our granddaughter comes: she is due March 8.)

How about you Canadians? Don't you celebrate in October? I have a brother in Toronto and I think his wife prepares a turkey for him on the American holiday, but they celebrate the Canadian holiday, too, but at a different time.

I have had the flu or something for the last week or so. I thought I would miss out on the family stuff because I didn't want to expose them to my germies, but I started feeling better on Wednesday and they insisted that I come with my family to join the feast. It was very enjoyable. We all brought a dish or two to share and we visited and ate...and ate...and ate! For so many years, my siblings and I were spread all over the United States, and having everyone together for the holidays was nonexistent. Now we all live within 30 minutes of one another and getting everyone together is still a challenge, but we do it as often as we can. Holidays are usually overflowing with family and it is awesome! Even though I was feeling a little weak still, I had a wonderful time with my brother's family, sisters' family, mom, dad, and all the kids. We are so blessed!

I'm so glad you are starting to feel better! I think one of the worst times to get sick is around the holidays. I'd actually rather be sick and working than sick and on break. It seems like such a waste of a perfectly potentially lovely time. I'm glad you got to join in the feast. Keep getting better! :)

Yeah! And I was out sick on the last half day with the students and I will be charged for a whole day...grrrr. I thought about dragging myself into work for half a day, but just couldn't do it. It was like my get up to go, got up and went....didn't take me along...so I just stayed home in bed...sniffling.

Hopefully everyone can stay healthy through December...that is usually a danger time for me healthwise. Although, the last few years I have lucked up and been well for all the Christmas festivities. I don't get sick often, but when I do, it's bad. Of course, I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to being sick.:(

Thanks Boxcar for the "feel good" sentiment!
