No Child Left Behind: The Football Version
Author Unknown*

l. All teams must make the state playoffs, and all will win the championship. If a team does not win the championship, they will be on probation until they are the champions, and coaches will be held accountable.

2. All kids will be expected to have the same football skills at the same time and in the same conditions. No exceptions will be made for interest in football, a desire to perform athletically, or genetic abilities or disabilities. ALL KIDS WILL PLAY FOOTBALL AT A PROFICIENT LEVEL

3. Talented players will be asked to work out on their own without instruction. This is because the coaches will be using all their instructional time with the athletes who aren't interested in football, have limited athletic ability, or whose parents don't like football.

4. Games will be played year round, but statistics will only be kept in the 4th, 8th, and 11th games.

5. This will create a New Age of sports where every school is expected to have the same level of talent and all teams will reach the same minimal goals.

If no child gets ahead, then no child will be left behind.

I thought you all would enjoy this! I did! :D

 Very well done. I coached the little ones for a few years, 6-7 yr. olds. It was the time of my life. I had no kids at the time so it was a bunch of strangers to me. They took to me very well and let me teach them how to play. Then during the games they would show us all what they had learned. The parents were very supportive as well. By the end of the season every child on that team had scored a touchdown. I'm telling you, what a wonderful feeling it was beings how I know that when they grew up even if they stayed with the program that future coaches would just give them a position and they probably would never get to touch another ball in a game, unless they were the coaches son or very fast or good. It was an inspirational year for me as a mentor. I wrote a poem about it and I owe it all to those children. I will post the poem here too and thus not take up room with my own thread to make it less congested out there. I love football, but the kids come first.:)

Winning Isn't Everything
Be A Winner
Everyone goes three and out at some point, has to punt the ball away,
So as a team you do what you can to try to make a big play.
You are not a winner only if your team wins,
You are young and just learning to throw blocks and do spins.
Did you ever make a block to help your running back,
Bat down a pass or record a sack,
Did you get the first down to keep a drive alive,
Or go up the middle on a fake dive?
Have you ever broken down and stopped the outside run,
Ever cause a fumble or recover one?
Go out on a pattern and make the reception,
How about run back a kick off or an interception,
Block a punt or strip the ball,
Get away from a blocker to make the tackle after all?
Did you show up for practice as much as you should?
Did you play as hard as you could?
If so, You are a winner!
And too, if you've tried and failed and tried again, You are a winner.

Dhe,

Keep these posts and reread them after you have been teaching for a few years. It will bring new meaning to the words. Trust me!
