What a year! :wowee: Right now I have a sense of being overwhelmed and not sure if I am coming or going. :idontknow: I stay to take tickets later on tonight at our home football game. This is a union fundraiser for scholarships for our students. I was going to spend a few hours sorting through things and targeting priorities, but I think I will draw my shades in my room, and put down my futon to nap.

I feel ya! Just as soon as you finally learn all the kids name, fundraisers, federal cards, this and that piece of paperwork all come due.
Wouldn't it be great if we could just TEACH?

I feel so free now... my last day was Friday. :) I frequently felt ready for the rubber room... and I thought frequently about why. I decided that the kids (even the obnoxious, lazy ones) were the best part about my day.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the thought of salmon fishing next week before heading to KY to look for a job. ahhhh... freedom from craziness for a bit.... :D

I soooo understand what you are saying! Coming, going, changing who is pulled, assemblies, who knew that this is what teaching involved when we were in college

As soon as I thought I had memorized the schedule of who is coming and going, the official musical instrument lesson schedule was given to me. Now I have to figure out how to fill time, in the middle of the morining, once every six days for 8 kids who don't participate in band and don't need math support. Also, how am I going to help those kids who go out for lessons and miss regular class work. It's amazing how they expect us to help these kids be in two places at the same time.

Seriously, I am ready to commit myself , if it means a break from the craziness of my last few weeks!
I teach grade 6 math, and we have complete inclusion in our area (one of the few places in the WORLD that does this!)
I have several students who do not belong with other kids( ie violence issues, etc...) yet there is no where else for them....Our system is not designed to help these kids, just make it harder for everyone involved...
I feel completely overwhealmed, and at a loss of what to do...I don't know how to teach, and deal with this stuff at the same time.

New administrator. Totally new structure. Just got started really (six weeks in) and the schedule CHANGES. All you have to do is walk through my building and everyone is just looking at each other with a crazed look.
The kids were just told of the changes on Friday and they are so confused now too. One of my sweet little boys told me that he thought Friday was the most confusing day of his life. All I could say was, "That won't be long lived. Today at least your teachers know what we are doing. Monday we will be confused too!!"

I am not computer literate and can't type very well either. I just spent fifteen minutes or so typing a reply here only to have not been signed in and when I went to post it I then had to log in and the entire post was lost! Uhg! Okay here goes again.

I noticed that for the most part those of you who replied here are active members. I'd like to respond to the lot of you.
Bananas, Seastarmath said I feel you and I'll have to agree with that.
Merrynl said I decided the kids(obnoxious and lazy)were the best part of my day, and that made me feel for all of you.
Hweber seems to understand how it is!
Teacher5 have you ever heard of Anagram Magic Squares? Puzzles I brought to my sons' 5th grade class where his teacher gave me the floor! I had so much fun, What a feeling I had to have charge in what children were going to listen to for the next45 minutes. I goofed up being nervous, but I saw the kids enjoying doing the work.
I don't know if that's proper of me to get off subject.so I say
Colleen stick with it. Someway somehow and with violence please talk with your administration about this. Make sure you do that each time there is an offense. If we don't do it everytime they wind up getting over on us, getting away with something and more importantly we must stop anything serious from happening well by that I mean doing our part by making it documented.
Just ducky reminds me of my bathroom where my wife decorated with rubber ducks everywhere. It makes me want to draw a warm bath and scream CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!! LOL you know?
