me or just their age?

So I THINK my meet the teacher went okay. I have a question, though. Last year and this, I got a lot of comments about how much the kids are enjoying coming to school. I teach grade 1 and 2. Before my head goes getting all puffed up, is it just that kids this age (6-8 yrs) tend to react to school that way? the parents seem happy but a little mystified or surprized at how thier kids like coming to school, so I'm guessing it's a change from previous experiences, but I don't want to take any credit if it's just characteristic of kids that age.

Many kids that age are excited about school just because it is new to them, but many have had a bad experience already, so they have a negative feel for it. If your kids are happy, the parents are happy, and you're happy, I say pat yourself on the back! You can leave positive or negative marks on everyone you touch. It seems you are making positive marks on your students :) Keep up the good work!
