I will be teaching a k-2 SC class. 8 students. 3 Autism, 3 EMH, 2 LD. Most are on a pre-k, k level.

Anyways, i've been searching my brain and the web for a full first day lesson plan. I'm not sure what to do besides introduce rules, tour the school, as my principal says "count them, feed them, get them home" I'm slightly overwhelmed, and am on my own at school. No other teacher could really give me tips.

If anyone has an outline of what they do on the first day I'd love to take a peek and get some ideas. Also, I'm searching for an experienced teacher who has used a behavior system with success in the ESE primary population.

Thanks for the advice!!

p.s. I did dual major in elem, and ese so i have experience but with 3-5 SC students.

I teach a self-contained special ed class, and the first day will go by so fast, you don't need to plan much. We spend a lot of time doing circle time the first day, that way we can all get to know each other. We also start the year with rest time, because after summer, some of mine are very tired after lunch. I also set up the centers we will use and we all get a lot of time to try them out, and we have a little easy art project that we all do as a group. I just make a class schedule, so it's clear when students go to lunch, recess, PE, and don't bother with formal lesson plans. I'm sure it will be fun and go by fast!
