I need a popsicle recipe to use with preschoolers.

This is as far as i've gotton:

1 paper/dixie cup per child
1 popsicle stick per child
1 tinfoil lid per child to hold stick upright
adequate amount of fruit juice or KoolAid

I've heard you can use corn syrup or something to keep the popsicles from becoming rock hard. Is this a good idea? What is the ratio of juice to syrup.

Also, I think I remember something about spray oil for the cups. This is to help with easy removal of the frozen popsicle. Am I right about this?

I hope someone can help me. Everything I find online is too advanced for the kids to do solo with only supervision.

Thanks in advance!

Corn syrup is used to help make the popsicles sweeter, the reason being that frozen products don't taste nearly as sweet as a defrosted product.

You could simply pour juice into a mold and freeze it, but it'll basically taste like ice.

You should either mix in corn syrup or sugar to sweeten your juice product prior to pouring it into a mold.

Keep in mind that ice will expand - so don't fill the molds all the way to the top. Fill them 3/4's full.

I can't wait to try some. I may not wait to do it with my grandson. If I can get the stuff together I might try it with our Junior High homeroom. We could make them in the morning and let them freeze all day. Or make them in academy time one day and eat them the next day. You're never too old for popsicles!

No need to spray oil in the cups as long as you use wax lined paper cups... the paper just peels away easily from the popsicle. Have fun!!

That is a terrific idea about the wax lining. Thank you. :)
