We're having our AIMS testing today and tomorrow. Since I'm a culinary arts teacher, the building administrator asked me to provide breakfast for 140 students. I will also be expected to provide lunch despite the fact that I will have no student line cooks as all students are either at home sleeping in (until after the test) or are taking the test.
Although I wouldn't mind having some student help, it won't be particularly difficult to make lunch. I'm going to make a very simple sweet and sour shrimp that I'll serve with steamed white rice.
The restaurant's assistant manager will bake hot pockets that we bought in bulk from one of our wholesale food suppliers.
In addition to the sweet and sour and hot pockets, I'll make some chicken noodle soup.
I think these three products will provide plenty of variety for our diners ... and I will have a few culinary arts students coming in just in time to help plate all of these meals.
Tomorrow I'll serve a hearty beef stew with freshly made biscuits. I'll also make a cream of mushroom soup. My assistant manager will deep fry tornados which are a processed food product ... battered beef and cheese burritos. She'll also drop three bags of fries.
Although I look forward to getting back to a normal schedule - it's kind of nice to have this lesiure time to write lesson plans, grade papers, and get caught up on paperwork.
