Hello,

I a a social studies teacher and I am currently teaching a politicial science class.

Next quarter, I've planned for the students to do a constitution writing project. This quarter we are learning about the different governments (form, branches, electoral systems, etc,..). They are also researching other governments and comparing them to prepare them for the assignment in the 4th quarter. As anyone done anything like this before? If yes, how did it go? What are some of the pitfalls you encounter?

I have 10 students (k- 12 school with 85 students) mostly from Cote d'Ivoire. 1- Zimbabwean, 1- American/Ivorian, 1 Ivorian who lived in the US, 1 Ivorian/Malian, 6 Ivorians. They will be broken into 2 groups of 5.

Love to read your thoughts, Thanks

I don't have any suggestions...just a big THANK YOU. As an English teacher, it is so nice to see another subject integrating writing in their course!
With the demands of NCLB and the writing tests, it is essential writing is taught across the curiculum!

It might be a good idea to read excerpts from the Federalist papers and the Anti-Federalist (Brutus) Papers. Have them read the excerpts and then summarize the arguments for and against the constitution in their own words
