My 6th grade daughter and 11 of her classmates have started a school newspaper composed of interviews, photos, comics, advise columns, etc. My daughter and another little gal are the journalists who will be interviewing different charity entities. Their plan is to interview shelters, humane society, salvation army, children's hospitals, nursing homes and such. What suggestions can you provide as far as what other locations they can visit for their interviews? What suggestions do you have on the title of their column? Thank you all so much for your help in advance.

What about having them do an article about high school towards the end of the year? What's it like to be a freshman? How is high school different from middle school? Student journalists could interview former students who attended your daughter's school for their impressions.

Perhaps they could interview local businesses and community leaders.

Nothing wrong with interviewing the local school board or local school administrator(s).

What about the local "food-share" organization(s).

I think that they could publish a list of organizations that need volunteers and put a blurb about what each volunteer is needed for. Or what about an interview with community leaders so that other students get interested in politics, their town's going-ons, etc.

It would be fun to interview or write to other sixth graders around the city or state in order to find out what other sixth graders are doing in their classrooms, their interests, and/or big events that may be going on at their schools.:)
