I'm looking for some suggestions for a student I have who continually throws small objects in class. He is a bright student and 99% of the time it is not malicious. The throwing does however bother other students and disrupts the class. I have tried loss of recess, moving desks, personal discussions (which work best but only temporarily), notes and calls home. Any brilliant ideas? I'll take anything.
Thanks, F.Solis

What consequences have you set up for students that disrupt your class? Do you first speak with the student, then contact the parent, then send them to the office? You should follow whatever procedure you set up at the beginning of the year.
If you didn't set up a procedure, it sounds as though you've done everything short of sending him out of the classroom. At this point, sending him to the office may be your best option. It sounds as though the student may need administrative discipline.

Is there anything else that you could give the student to focus on instead of throwing something? Could you give him a job to do or give im something less distracting to do with his hands? He is probabl;y a kinistetic learner and needs to be moving. Try having the whole class do something that involves getting out of their seats.
