Do you ever have one of those weeks, oh... you know, the kind of week when a parent complains to the principal about a simple misunderstanding, and then one of your students is caught stealing, and later two more are found to be involved in the robbery, and later on that week one student is caught forging her parent's signature and another one cheats on her homework, and finally there's a kid who's supposed to be taking a district reading test and you find out he hasn't done a damn thing the whole period. And then they have the audacity to ask, "When are we having our class party?"
Thank God It's Friday!

So ... inquiring minds want to know ... when are you having your class party? What was your response?

Surely the entire class is not composed of little hooligans?

I have found this week has been bad as well....I think the holidays are just really driving the kids nuts!!! They are really excited to be on vacation too...so...Lord knows next week won't be as productive as I hope it will be....Then in January the 2nd grade teacher will be out and I will most likely be taking her class as well....wish me luck!! I won't have any hair left at the end of January!

And it's funny how "those weeks" typically fall right before a vacation, isn't it?

I have my kiddos for 8 days before we get our next break. I had a fight in my room this morning. Then second period I had one who'd been wanting to fight, and she was completely wild in the classroom. She ended up going to the office with the principal, who just happened to be walking by my room and heard me fussing.

Geez . . .

Oh yes ... I wrote about this in a thread called My Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Things have been fine in my classes, but I've heard other teachers complain that the kids are going nuts on them. There was also a fight during lunch today. I definitely think kids are anticipating the break, which begins one week from tonight for us.

My kids have been out of control too. I think it's because they are anxious for Christmas break. I caught a student cheating on his Science test, had another one in tears because he did not understand the test, and was given a textbook inventory to complete at 3:00.

Well Chef Dave, I didn't respond, but we'll se how it goes this week. We'll probably have the class party Thursday so I can be sure they clean up by Friday. Ha ha.

As to the hooligans, they're really genuinely sweet kids. Last week just seemed to be a week when a lot of bad choices were made. We'll get over it.:)
