I was going to send out a small gift to people with 5 or more posts in November, but my gifts got delayed in being produced...
Now I just received them (December 3rd), so I decided to send a small gift to everyone with at least 4 posts from Nov 1st - Dec 3rd. REMEMBER: Only those who live in the U.S.A. are eligible (due to postage costs :( ) and only those who have entered their mailing address in their profile.
Congratulations to everyone below who should keep an eye out on their mailbox!

I think the post office tried to put the envelope through an automatic sorter. Friday, I got a plastic baggie in the mail. Printed on it was something like this: "Your mail is important to us. So sorry it got mangled in the system. Have a nice day." Inside the baggie was a shredded envelope, a shredded note and a Teachers Corner pen. Thanks for the pen. I'm glad it made it through the mail even if the packaging didn't.:p

You're luckier than I am. I got the little plastic envelope and only the corner of the letter and envelope. It took me a while to figure out who it was from!

Well, I have gotten a report of merrynl getting the envelope shredded, and I got one returned today as insufficient address (RibbityRibbit).
Long story, but as it turns out, I had to pay twice as much for shipping as I expected for each of these - and what for? They are non-machineable. The USPS website says there is a .17 (over the .41 cent postage) for sending non-machineable items such as envelopes with pens inside. BUT when I got to the post office, they made me pay 1.13 for each one because they classified it as a "package". They explained that it was just a bit over the 1/4" thichness cutoff for the .58 price - and so needed special handling, even though their website (and signs in the post office) clearly state .17 extra for "pens" inside the envelope.
As I can see with merrynl, and the envelope that I got back for RibbityRibbit (opened - no pen inside) the "Special Handling" that I paid double shipping for is worthless. I still never heard from a quite a few people as to whether or not they received their pen in the mail.
Unfortunately, we 'cannot be responsible' for mail failures (which this obviously was) as it would kill us in shipping. But, if you did not get your pen on this round of giveaways, send me a PM and if you qualify for a future mailing, I will add a pen to whatever else is going out to you.
This really sucks :( And I appologize to those who didn't get theirs. I have a feeling that the post office machined them anyway - so I gotta call them to see what can be done in the future to make sure they get delivered properly.
If you are listed as getting a pen in the first post, and you got it, how did your envelope look? If you are listed above and did not get it, please let me know in this post.
Thanks,
Addict.

I also think they machined all these. Mine was shredded along the bottom where they would normally run it through the machine. I did get all the pieces to mine, so it is all good.

Are you sending them from Colorado? Cause if that is the case, then that is prob why...I live close...

Yep - I'm in Castle Rock :) At least the local post office didn't machine it...

Oh great one, whose wise and all knowing administration of this site causes the very internet to tremble ... this unworthy one begs to report that he has indeed received the auspicious blessing of "the pen."
Praise be to thee for thy bounty ... and ten thousand pardons do I ask for my abject failure to thank thee more promptly. (Chef Dave kowtows to the great one, banging his head on the floor three times).

Haha. No, no 'thank you' to me is necessary - as these are a thank you sentiment toward those who were sent the pen. I was just trying to evaluate my budget before deciding on an action plan. Since about 3 or 4 people actually got theirs, it leaves about 20-25 "unknown - but not looking good".
I guess I probably should just leave it as a "we can't be responsible for lost, misdirected or shredded" mail. :(

It's possible that others may have done what I did. I initially discounted the envelope as junk mail and didn't pay any attention to it until last week when I finally had time to clean out my in box at work.

Dear Addict,
I did not get my small gift in the mail. :( Mom taught me that it is the thought that counts, so I thank you for your effort and the thought! Thank you!

Yeah! We teachers love surprises.
I always have a raffle in my classroom at the end of each month. The kids love it.

It is so nice that this site not only provides an outlet for us, and allows us to get help and info from others...we also get FREE STUFF! Every teacher loves free stuff! This is awesome!

It is weird. I never read this whole thread before! I didn't even realized there had been problems... Kind of out of character not to have read everything.
