No, I haven't. What is it about? Maybe you can give us a review?

It has some beautiful writing and vivid characters but the premise is very unique. We have SSR times and one of the teachers passed it my way. I hear that there is a sequel in the works too!

Are you kidding? They are the hottest books around right now!Three are out at the moment and a movie is in the works. Go to Stephanie Meyer's website to get all the info on the books and others she has planned in the series. If I remember correctly, there is at least one more plus a book from Edward's point of view.
I finished Twilight in a day. I just couldn't put it down! Now my teenage daughter (17) is reading it and loving it.
Now I'm waiting impatiently for book #4!

Wow, I thought it was a newer series! I'm very shocked that it hadn't crossed my desk before. I was only given the first book about a week ago.
Do you know the titles of the other books in the series?

I'll have to look into this. It is always great to find new books. I do wish I had more time to read. The holiday break will hopefully be a good time to relax and catch up.

It is such a great book! I have yet to finish it (I have been so busy this week) but whenever I have a free second, I just have to pick it up.
In short it is about a high school girl who moves to a new town and falls in love with a vampire. It sounds like such a simple premise, but the writing has been done so well. If you are female, you can't help but fall for the vampire character yourself. It is a wonderful story!
I'm excited for the movie version, but at the same time I'm afraid it may ruin the book. Hopefully within the next week I'll be on to New Moon, the second installment.

i've had books I couldn't put down. It is so hard to get anything done because you can't tear yourself away!
Vampires? That must be interesting to read.

Well, I read Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse, bought a copy each for 3 of my daughters....they read them....we have all been to Stephanie's website and read about everything in the works and more. There is an excerpt from Edward's point of view when he met Bella. These books are so great. Also, because of them I am addicted to the Moonlight TV series. I'm obsessed and that is not like me. Read these books and watch the show.....rrrrrrrrrrrr (tongue roll). Yummy.

Normally I'm not a fan of vampire fiction AT ALL. However, I am a huge fan of young adult literature, so I picked up Twilight.
I absolutely LOVED that book and finished it in no time. I couldn't wait for New Moon, but I didn't like it quite as much. I didn't even make it through Eclipse. The kids have been waiting for me to finish it and make an AR test, but I just can't finish it.
Maybe I hit my vampire limit. :p

I finished Twilight about a week ago and have started New Moon. I'm having a hard time finding time to read right now so I'm not very far into it yet and I've had it for about a week. I really like it so far. One of my students said she didn't like New Moon as much as Twilight or Eclipse but then a teacher friend of mine said her favorite out of the 3 was New Moon. Winter break is coming up in 2 weeks so I'm hoping to find some time then to get reading.

I didn't think I'd like Twilight, but I couldn't put it down. As soon as it was finished I was out buying #2, then #3, and #4!!! I loved all of them. I am anxious to see the movie, but I am afraid it will pale in comparison to the books.

One of my students lent me her copy to get started in the series. Before I finished the fourth or fifth chapter, I had ordered my own set of the books from Chapters. I can't be the only late 30 something woman on the planet who wants a vampire boyfriend! I have only ever had one other crush on a literary character and that was Dallas from "The Outsiders". Crazy I know! I think the movie will compliment the book, although they are never as good as the book. If you go to youtube.com and type in Twilight, there are all sorts of trailers and excerpts from the movie. It looks promising. There is a part where they are standing in the forest and Edward tells Bella to say the word out loud. "Vampire." It's so intense. Anyway, I'm not crazy, but really the relationship between the two characters makes the book an instant classic.

The Host by Stephanie Meyer is also a good read! Aliens!!!!! I am not a sci-fi fan, but I wasn't a vampire fan before Twilight!!

One of my students is reading "The Host" and highly recommends it. She has offered to lend it to me (after I wade through my report cards stuff). I have a reading list as long as my arm this year...Inkdeath, Brizinger, The Dragon Lance series. So many good books and so little time!

I appreciate what Twilight was done for my 6th graders. They are motivated to read and are flying through their books (and we have AR so they take tests afterwards and are understanding the books too!) However...unfortunately, I didn't enjoy Twilight as much as I hoped I would. I only made it half way through, quickly, but then just kind of lost the motivation to keep reading. I'm not sure what hit me wrong about it, usually I love these kind of stories. I am definitely not a critic and appreciate anything that causes children to read, but I think partly it just seems a little mature for my students to be reading it. Am I totally off base?

I really enjoyed the series and The Host.
However, I do think they are written with a slightly older than sixth grade audience in mind. My daughters aged 12, 15, and 19 all love the books. They seem to be most appropriate for students 14 or older, not because of difficulty but because of the content. I sometimes discourage my students 5th grade) from reading books with mature content, but I'm not sure how that works with middle school students-especially since the books are so popular.

My daughters loved the book but were not that impressed with the movie. I have heard this from all of my students as well. I am going to the movie today. Based on what I have heard, don't judge the book by the movie if you haven't read it yet.
I don't like to see the movie first. I am not interested in reading the book if I have already seen the movie. I guess that is why I never read the Harry Potter series. I felt guily about that since I am a READING TEACHER! Ha!

I've heard mixed reviews from my students. Those who read the books, (mostly 12 and 13 year old girls) loved the movie. Those who hadn't read the book first, felt the movie fell short. I have yet to see it, but I'm going in a week. I can't see a movie before I read a book, I don't read closely enough. I hope the movie doesn't wreck the book.
