We just gave the PLAN test to our sophomores. I really wonder what the idea is giving it so early in the year, I've barely established the fundamentals, and they[students] are getting questions that exceed material anyone is reasonably going to get to so soon.
Anyway, has anyone else given the test? Particularly, I'm curious if anyone gives it broken over two days (the kids spend an hour bubbling in nonsense before the test even begins).

Most high schools that I've seen don't give the plan test until second semester. Granted they do it early in the second semester (Feb, maybe) but still not this early.
Your school might give it early to help decide if students are placed correctly. Or to help decide which students need extra help. We use NWEA Map testing for this at the middle school, but I could see the PLAN helping with this also.
I think that you can get labels for the students to prevent the need to bubble, but I'm not exactly sure.

You wanna know what's funny? We're using Map Testing as well. As to the point of barcodes, we've got them, but the students still spend an hour bubbling in their curriculum plans, their interest inventories, whether or not they want info sent to recruiters(sp?) and what religion they belong to. I may have broken a rule, but I put on some music for them during this portion, once I realized how long it was going to be. I really had one student (a friendly one, not one of the snots) complain that his hand was going to be so cramped that he wouldn't be able to take the actual test.

Well, that's probably why they had to split it up over two days....
