I teach in VA and this is my first year teaching a 4th grade Special Education class. My subjects I will be responsible for are (I think): Reading and Math. My inclusion subjects are social studies, science and possibly English, though I'm not sure yet.
My issue: I don't know how to plan using the Standards of Learning and I don't know how I can plan yet without my class list/IEP's. I'm just nervous because I just have no idea how to apply the standards especially if my kids, more than likely, will not be learning on grade level for math or reading. So I'm really really confused at this point. I'm also confused because I have several different math, reading, science, and social studies books in my cupboards at school.. and I am not familiar with them. I am hoping I can get a hold of my mentor and get some help from the woman who taught 4th grade Special Ed before...
