At the end of the year another 5th grade teacher and I do "Sock Day". A week prior to the sock day, we tell the kids they are to take an old sock and decorate it. It can be decorated any way they want (school appropriate of course) and they bring it back on the scheduled sock day. We hang up all the socks on a laundry type line so all the students can see the decorated socks and they vote on the most creative, most beautiful, most scary and most original. The winners receive some type of prize.

For that entire day (typically it's a half school day) the kids participate in "Sock Stations" and they go around and complete the different activities at each station. Some of the different stations is a math packet with shoe word problems, a spelling packet with words that have to do with feet or shoes, logic puzzles with socks as the theme, etc.

What I am looking for is any creative or cool idea/worksheet or something that you may have that I could adapt to fit this special theme. Any ideas???? I want some fresh ones so I can switch things up a bit. Thanks.

I don't know if you want an outdoor activity, but you can have a "snowball" fight. At our Oktoberfest at church, we filled tube socks with babypowder, tied the top in a knot and the kids threw them at each other (obvious rule, no aiming for the head). You just blow a whistle to start and stop.

If you want it to be an actual game, here are some rules I found:
Activity time 10 minutes. Materials needed, socks,
baby powder, plastic trash bag and referees.
Roll each sock into a ball. You might want help for this task.
Just before the picnic, coat the socks in baby powder. An
easy way is to put them in a trash bag and sprinkle
powder over them. Then tightly hold the bag shut and
shake it to thoroughly coat the socks. For the game, have kids and adults form pairs or
trios and hold hands or link elbows. Give each team two
sock “snow balls.”
Say, “On ‘go,’ your job is to knock out the other
teams by hitting them with your powder-covered snowballs.
If your team member gets hit, your entire team
must sit down. You will know if you have been hit,
because it will leave a mark on you. Chose carefully
before you throw since you only have two snow balls.
You can also use any snow balls you find on the floor.
Good luck!”
Have one referee blow the whistle. You will need
several referees to monitor the snow ball fight. Play till
only one team is standing.

what cool ideas!! I have one, but it would be for the whole class.

Each student takes off one of their shoes and puts it into a big pile in the middle of the room. Divide the class into two groups and have them do a relay to the pile of shoes to dig and find their other shoe. Once they find it, they put it on and run back to the end of their line. The team that gets seated w/ all their shoes on, wins!! lol I hope that is easy to understand. Hope that helps!! :-D
