Praxis Exam Help

I recently passed Praxis exam 0353, but still need to pass 0542. I was able to find study material for the first test, but have not been able to find anything for 0542. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone here taken that test?

I guess I have a dilemma on my hands! 97 people viewed this post, and nobody has taken, or has any suggestions for this test. I am curious how the State of NC can require me to take a test that no other person on the earth has taken. I have posted on every teachers forum on the Internet, called book stores, and even called special education teachers at schools in my area, and not one person can point me in a direction to prepare for this test. It is very frustrating.

I will be taking both tests this weekend as well. I am equally nervous and looking for any information or advices about the tests.
I have taken the 0542 test this past year and I did not pass for very little (unfortunately). I now have one year of experience in the special education field and hope it will help me to take a better test.
The test involved applicable questions. For example, for one of the questions they provided some information about a student and some of his test scores. The question was to write an IEP goal related with the student's disability.
Another question on the test asked to write a list of people that you as a case manager would invite to an iep meeting and why each person should be invited. Something like that.
Practical stuff.
How was the 0353 test?

Has anyone taken the Education of Young Children Praxis II test? I would appreciate any ideas about what the test is like. What are the essay questions about? I have to take the test on Saturday and don't know if I have studied enough. Thanks!

Hey, I am actually in the process of taking 0353...any suggestions? the ETS book is super general too, and it just gives you topics... How did you do on the exam? any advice? Where are you from? Okay well, hope to hear from you soon, thanks!!!!!

Hi ALL! I took the 0353 which I got an 181 out of 200 points & my state requirement was only 157. I have to take the 0542 and when I saw it consisted of 5 Constructive Response Question I thought oh gee here we go! I took the PLT 0522 back when I took 0353 and did horribly only getting a raw score of 52 out of possibly 72 on the short-answer/constructive response part. I don't know how I will study except to look over my old college stuff case studies etc. Maybe it will help a little. Anyone have any other studying ideas?

Hi, What did you study to get so high on the test? I have the booklet by ETS and I have made index cards with terms and definitions on it just trying to get the information in my head and familiarize myself with it. I just thought you may have used something else like cliff notes or something. I will be taking both test in the same day on April 24, 2010! tHANKS for any advise you can give. ( I just graduated in Dec with my masters in Special Ed but still have to take the tests.)

Hello I'm a bit confused about the Praxis test. I guess I'm not sure who has to take the test or if we all do. I have been teaching since 1994 and I'm about to interview for a Special Ed Pre school position. I see more and more people taking the test but I'm not sure who exactly has to take it. I've been a substitute teacher for a couple of years so I feel kind of out of the loop. Please help me if you can. Thanks so much and best of luck. lorray

I think it depends on the state you are in. Do you have your teaching certificate or license already? If so, you probably don't need to take it.

Hi Yes I've had my elementary teaching certificate since 1995. However, I've been reading more and more about this test and I wasn't sure who had to take it. I live in the state of Washington. Thanks again for responding back to me. I really appreciate it. Lorray
