Have you heard of cup stacking? The PE teacher at my kids' school introduced it in his gym classes to promote hand/eye coordination and to improve attention skills. The kids love it!
The school store has sold out of the official cups and our local toy stores are having trouble keeping their shelves stocked with them. Here is the website...check it out:

You'll be haunted by the sounds of stacking cups:rolleyes:

Tee hee! We do this in our DPA classes! The kids love it, and it's amazing how good at it some get!

That looks really cool. I had not ever heard of it. That is why the net is such a great tool! Learn new things. :)

Its been around for awhile, even having competitions. I received info from some company when they wanted to first sell the "official" cups, which at the time were extremely expensive for my taste.

They wanted me to promote it within Boy Scouting. I ignored it. Now my youngest is doing it in school and I suddenly find myseelf looking for them again. I think S&S has a decent supply if not a good cost on them.

I've seen it on TV and, WOW, those kids are fast! I think a lot of the boys/girls clubs do this It is relatively inexpensive if you compare it to many sports activities since the equipment is minimal as is the space requirements.

One our local schools also has a jump rope jumping team (not double-dutch). They are getting a lot of press right now and I hope to see more of schools start teams. They have to do a lot of traveling to compete right now.

We haven't had any formal Cup Stacking Competitions, but nonetheless, the kids are very competitive about it anyway.

The cups are sold at stores like ToysRUs & Target and a basic stack of 12 Speed Stacks cups runs about $9.99 and they come in a mesh carrybag. They also sell big sets with a mat and timer for around $30., but those are not really essential.

I've seen it on tv too. I did not realize that they sold it in the stores until recently.. I thought these kids just had nothing better to do..lol:p
But, it seems like something my kids would enjoy..especially my Aspergers, things like that help her focus. That's why we have so many rubics cubes around the house!:D

What a great way to use it as a math/science game! Especially in a classroom. Create teams with cool team names, mascots, cheer signs......ok...I am getting carried away. I think I secretly want to be a part of the "cup stacking" squad!!!! :D
