I post on another message board, but am getting tired of reading post about how bad they hate their jobs.

I love teaching. Yes, I have days when I am ready to strangle students, parents, or administration but I still love my job.
The way I feel is "I teach for free, I get paid to put up with the extra garbage".

Am I a minority?

There was one other thread on another part of this board that disturbed me........something about how much people dread Sunday nights.

This job means more to me than any other job I've ever had. I don't dread Sunday nights in the slightest. And even when I've had the worst day possible, the thought never occurs to me to quit.

My basketball girls all came in today to visit me and give me Valentines, and I had something for each of them. The girl that calls me mom gave me a teddy bear.

You just don't get that sitting in a cubicle.

I have my bad days. And there are certainly days where I think that I'm not into it. But I LOVE my job, and can't imagine doing anything else. I'd like to think that most teachers feel the same way. We have to put way too much emotionally into our jobs (or at least we SHOULD) to hate it.

I agree, and I love my job not because of June, July, and August. :o) Although those months are getting shorter and shorter with inservice requirements. :o)

I Love My Job!!! Yes I have my rough days, but then I remember that these kids are learning the proper way to act since many of them don't learn this at home. THen I know why I teach. For the kids, especially the ones that are so called problem students!! I love my job and love to come to work with the kids!!!!

Teaching is a noble profession. Exhausting, but noble!
The rewards far outnumber the disappointments.

Most days I enjoy my job. I can't imagine doing anything else. We all have bad days but so does everyone else.

My bad days usually occur when I feel like I can't reach a certain child or when people who know nothing about what we do start blasting us.

We put a lot of energy into our professions including those summer inservice requirements. All I really want in return is respect.

I'm a first year teacher, so I'm sure I still have a lot of that "new teacher enthusiasm", but after teaching one of those "dreaded" classes during my first year, I think it's pretty safe to say that I truly love the profession.

I can't imagine having a boring, repetitive job. Or sitting in an office following papertrails and answering the phone. Give me children and a chance to impact their lives for the better!

I agree florida girl. One afternoon,(at home of course) I sat down to some peace and quiet and thought to myself what I would do if I did not teach. I was quite puzzled. I love my job. I love teaching! I love interacting with students and their parents. I love seeing them learn and wanting to learn. I love watching a child improve their behavior so they can function in class normally. I do not know what other career is out there for me at this point in my life. I know I would be lost, adrift, confused, unsatisfied. But hey don't get me wrong there are days where I question my sanity, days where I would rather close and lock the door to my students to keep them away for just a few moments, days that a student and I do not get along and I want to ring their necks for arguing a stupid point with me...But ahhhhh....the good far out ways the better....

Do I love teaching? Very much. It's my childhood dream.
The time in the classrooms is the best time of the day. I started teaching in my university years, it's been more than 5 years, and I'm still very enthusiastic to start a lesson.
I've learnt a lot from the experience I have with the students, the good and bad. I have to admit that they are one of the best teachers that I've ever had.
For me, teaching is the best job!

I definitely hated it for a while this year. As summer gets closer its much better. It's better than any other job I've had. But it's very diheartening to see how disrespectful and poorly behaved students are. I teach 7th and 8th grade and I get very upset and frustrated with classroom management. I check the attendence before my least favorite class comes in to see how many are absent- None today, sigh** I'll just have to work through it! I get a big raise for next year though- that's enough to bring me back!

i love my job!! that feeling I get on the last day of term every summer is enough for me to know....I've been counting down to the holidays, relishing the thought of a nice long break, and at the same time I still get a lump in my throat waving off another class...its so sad for me to think that so many people in the profession hate it (not to say there aren't days when i'd give anything for 30 seconds of pure silence!)
