Hi all,
I have a couple questions regarding guest speakers.

1. how much do guest speakers usually charge? (lets say a guest lecturer for a college or secondary level school).

2. Who covers room and board if it is out of state?

3. Should travel expenses be included?

4. Should a speaker be expected to foot the bill for room board and travel?

5. Once the speaker is in the new location, should he/she be picked up and then dropped off after the talk?

Thanks for the help.
Rich

PS- we're talking NJ to FL and vice versa... thanks

I've only helped with one guest lecturer. He was pretty well-known, he charged $1500 for a full-day lecture, plus expenses which included air travel and hotel. (Maybe meals, but I can't remember). We provided him transportation (we all took turns, a few took him out to dinner/lunch, etc). Good luck!

Thank you so much, that really does help a lot. I appreciate you taking the time to help me with this. One more question, what was the degree of the person who you were referring to?
Thanks again,
rich

He has his PhD in....reading I think? And he actually was pretty experienced. He's a prof at a university up north, but he mostly gets his money from guest lecturing.
