Hey everyone - I hope someone will help me out.

I am currently taking a class on integrating technology into the Early Childhood classroom. I need to interview a current Early Childhood (K-3) teacher about this subject. If anyone would like to answer the questions for me I would greatly appreciate it. I have local teachers that I could ask however since I don't want to stay in florida once I begin teaching I would like some input on this topic in the view of other state standards.

•How and why did you start teaching?
•How do you feel about integrating technology into your classroom curriculum and activities?
•What are some examples of technology that you have available to use to enhance material you are teaching?
•How do your students react to the different forms of technology in the classroom?
•Are there any technological activities that are required by your school that you would rather not have to use?
•What is your favorite form of technology in the classroom?
•What is the biggest recommendation or the most valuable advice you could give me as I begin teaching and integrating technology?

If you would like to answer these questions feel free!

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Sure, it would be great to have your answers! The more information and points of view I can get the better - Teaching is such an important career I want to learn as much as I can before I get my own class.

•How and why did you start teaching? As corney as it sounds, I started to teach to "make a difference in the world." I also am finishing my law degree, but I doubt I will ever practice. I feel my talent lies in the classroom.
•How do you feel about integrating technology into your classroom curriculum and activities? It would be wonderful if I had access to it. I'm not even allowed to have a tv/vcr. I have recently convinced admin to let me do a power point presentation, but there's a ton of red tape to go through to get the projector. But, to plan my lessons, I use a computer with as many different teaching software that I can find.
•What are some examples of technology that you have available to use to enhance material you are teaching? See above.
•How do your students react to the different forms of technology in the classroom? I think it's been shown by people much smarter than me that students learn better by teaching them with different mediums. Technology can only help us do that better!
•Are there any technological activities that are required by your school that you would rather not have to use? I will say that our grade book is electronic. This would seem ideal except that it has a lot of kinks that are rarely worked out.
•What is your favorite form of technology in the classroom? I really want to do a power point with video clips, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know!
•What is the biggest recommendation or the most valuable advice you could give me as I begin teaching and integrating technology? Plan ahead and be organized. Be able to teach even if the technology doesn't work. Don't be too dependant on it.

These answers are by a Texas 5th-7th grade social studies teacher. I was an EC SPED teacher for two years. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your answers. They will really help me with my class. It is amazing to me that there are so many things that would benefit students that we can't use in a classroom. It makes me wonder why some poeple are in the education field.

I am actually an online elementary teacher. My students are mostly k-3 and use the internet and their computer on a daily basis. My students by the end of the year are able to create and send emails to me and other students (with parental permissions). My students have learned how to use powerpoint which I have to admit I did not fully understand until I was in college. There are about 10 of my students who sit on the computer with me weekly while I do lessons with them where they can see my computer screen and I can show them lessons on reading, math, or even study skills.

I have to admit when I took this job I was a little nervous because I was not sure that primary students could handle all this technology and for some of my families the kids know more than the parents. I will have parents sometimes who will sit down and redo the lessons so that they can learn the skills that their child just learned. Don't be afraid to use as much technology as you can in the classroom.
