Hello all! I am conducting a survey of teachers. I am struggling with the issue of teachers not writing their own lesson plans. At some schools, one teacher writes lesson plans and then passes them out to the rest of the team and that is what they teach. For example, in an elementary school, one teacher will write the math lessons, one teacher the writing, one teacher the social studies and so on. The teacher then passes it out and quickly goes over it. I know a teacher can add additional side notes to the lesson, but the majority of the lesson is done for them. (A generic class) I believe having a "Professional Conversation" about teaching involving lessons, activities and assessments is more beneficial. You are able to choose and reflect and plan better. For example, all teachers brought different ideas for covering specific content. They then dicussed what worked, why and how you could use it. This coversation sparked more ideas and got teachers to think how they could use it with their kids. The main question is "Should teachers be given lesson plans already written?"
