As the voting comes to and end, I was just interested in seeing how teachers covered today's election in their classroom.
I teach 4th grade and prior to today we hadn't done any discussing. I pulled a couple of articles off the Scholastic News web site and was going to discuss them as a class. When I began, I asked what they already knew...this grew into a 60 minute discussion and we never got the articles!
I was surprised to see how interested they were in government, the political parties, and voting in general. We were able to also clear up some misconceptions they had as well. It was definitely a teachable moment.
Feel free to post your thoughts or reflections on the day's events!
