I am a college student at Virginia Tech enrolled in the industrial design program. My project group and I have been assigned a user centered design project and we have chosen to focus our work on elementary school (3rd-5th) grade teachers. Our project brief is as follows:
"You are to 'rethink the windows-based PC experience today and the role it plays in people's lives. Envision how form factor influences the digital lifestyle - from personal productivity at work or home, to entertainment, mobility and lifestyle. Think big, be bold, be inspired, but pay attention to sustainable technologies, and ecological and environmental innovation.' This project will adhere to the guidelines and rules of the Microsoft/IDSA Next-Gen Design Competition."
We are currently in the conceptualization stage of our project which we have focused on communication between parents and teachers since we have a basis of knowledge that this communication is difficult and time consuming.
Anyone who is interested in helping us by providing us information on this topic please reply to our post. After a discussion has been initiated and ideas are flowing I'll introduce our proposed product/system so as not to bias or influence your comments initially in this thread. Also, I have set up an online survey and it would be great if anyone could fill it out. Please email me at sbruno35@gmail.com for the web link (since it cannot be posted here).
