touch typing

Hi I am teaching my students in the computer room. During the lesson, they have lots of typing to do.Can you please recommand a software / program for touch typing to teach them how to type quickly, that can save a huge amount of time during the lesson.Thank you, Michael

My district uses a program called "Type to Learn." My students really seem to enjoy it. Not only do they get the basic typing practice, but they get to "earn" games as they progress through the program. The games reinforce what they are learning.

There are several free programs on the net for typing.
mrkent.com, senselang.com, typingmaster.com, captainkeyboard.com
Some of these are demos but they work.:)

Hello, I've been searching games for learning touch typing for a long time and the best I've found until now is Typing of the Dead (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/puzzle/typingofthedead/review.html) for PC. It's an oldie but it has good graphics, good sound, good story and best of all, good learning and drilling. Students can practice all keys in the keyboard. With its complete progress chart, it's never been so funny to type. It's full of action. I think is good for all competitive students of mechanography but I recommend the game for older students because it has some soft "language" and violence.

A typing sofware, GS Typing Tutor, offers a complete course for how to touch typing, also it features typing test for testing the students typing speed and accuracy.
