The Save Our History National Honors
This year, The History Channel® will award cash prizes to teachers who have used local history to enhance history and social studies units in the 2005-2006 school year. The History Channel will also award scholarships of up to $5,000 to students who tell us about their efforts to learn about, help document or preserve their local history. 24 teachers and 24 students will win $1,000 and one teacher and one student will receive $5,000 and a free trip to Washington D.C., where they will be recognized as the Save Our History Teacher and Student of the Year at the Save Our History National Honors event in May 2006. To be considered, teachers or students must submit their work by April 7, 2006.
Elementary, middle, and high school teachers (and homeschooling parents) and students are eligible. For guidelines, criteria, and to download entry forms for either the teacher or students contests, please visit http://www.saveourhistory.com/awards/get_involved.html.
