I am a fairly new teacher. This is the first year that I will have a wondow in my room. I am in a portable this year and unfortunately I have two walls that are all window in the room. This cuts down on my ability to use my overhead projector. This is a 7th Grade Language Arts class. I can not hang blinds, as they are not provided by the school and the only ones they will allow are very expensive. The other rooms have them but this year they voted not to buy them for new teachers. They suggested I cover them with paper or plywood. Not very decorative!!! Does anyone have any ideas? I am desperate!

Will they let you hang curtains?

At lowes or home depot you can also find this "stained glass" film for windows. It goes on and off easily.

If none of this will work or is too expensive, you can put up butcher paper and decorate it with art work or let the kids decorate it to spruce up the room.

Have the students help decorate by reminding them that windows often create a hotter or colder (depending on your location) without occasional protection. I've seen people do a projection onto the butcherpaper that creates a cheap mural/stained glass look and others use posters.
