Project Read: Story Form and Report Form

If you use Project Read: Story Form and/or Report Form with your middle grade reading students, how do you incorporate it into your lessons? Do you use Project Read to introduce skill adn then use literature books? I want to use components of these forms, but wondered how those who have used them successfully would advise me to use the material. Thanks!
