Hi. I am looking for exciting ideas for introducing myself to students. It is a requirement for student teaching. I haven't a clue where to start. I can write lessons on everything else, but this one has me stumped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

One fun way to introduce yourself to your new students is to bring in a bag with things in it that would describe you. For instance, your favorite movie, fav. book, picture of your family, etc. This way the kids get to know more about you than just that you are a teacher. It is fun for everyone!

I like the above idea. Another thing you could do is make a poster of pictures of yourself or things you like. You could explain it to the class.
Or, you could give a little "quiz" (they'll just LOVE when you tell them there's a quiz!). It could include questions about you like Am I married? What do you think my favorite color is? They will realize pretty quick that you can't know everything about a person just from appearance, but some things you can! Then you could ask them if there's anything else they wanted to know that wasn't on the "quiz".

Another way to introduce yourself and find out about the students at the same time is using an interest inventory. An interest inventory is a list a questions that the students and you answer and then discuss. You can do this in small groups or as a whole group activity. It can also be incorporated into math lessons, by making graphs. Good luck with your student teaching.
